Overview
Glossa (Greek for tongue or language) is a highly optimized, enterprise-ready multilingual framework designed specifically for professional WordPress developers utilizing custom themes and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF). Unlike legacy utilities (WPML, Polylang), Glossa introduces zero taxonomy bloat, relies on an optimized relational lookup index, and avoids execution loops. It is architected for setups executing strict full-page caching profiles (such as Nginx FastCGI).
Architectural Rationale:
Legacy translation plugins (WPML, Polylang) clutter the core wp_terms table with synthetic taxonomies, perform recursive SQL queries, and set user session cookies that break full-page NGINX FastCGI caching. Glossa is built from scratch for custom theme engineering with a dedicated indexed junction table, zero taxonomy clutter, and 100% cookie-less URL routing.
Developer Integration
// Retrieve translation context with sub-millisecond resolution
use Glossa\API;
$en_post_id = API::get_translation($post_id, 'en');
$current_lang = API::get_current_language(); // 'de' | 'en'
WP-CLI: $ wp glossa sync-acf --field-group=group_hero
Deployment Notes
ACF Options pages can be isolated per locale by default, or prefixed with global_ to share settings across all languages.
